Operation Homefront's 2009 Freedom Walk

MICHAEL SWAN: OPERATION HOMEFRONT WASHINGTON REMEMBERS 9-11 >>>

On Friday Sept. 11, Operation Homefront will join groups across America to host a Freedom Walk in remembrance of the 9-11 attacks.  The 2-mile Freedom Walk will begin and end at Thea Park in Tacoma. Walkers will start, er, walking at 5 p.m. There is no cost to participate. ?

Wreathlaying ceremony to honor Korean War veterans

MICHAEL SWAN: PUBLIC INVITED TO SHARE IN 56TH ANNIVERSARY REMEMBRANCE >>>

Washington State Department of Veterans Affairs sent this our way:

OLYMPIA – Washington residents are invited to pay tribute to veterans of the Korean War on Saturday, July 25, as veterans groups gather in Olympia to remember the 56th anniversary of the end of the Korean War.

A special wreathlaying ceremony will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the Korean War Veterans Memorial on the East Capitol Campus, as well as the unveiling of the name of Corporal William B. Morse of Keyport.

All organizations and individuals are welcome to bring flowers and/or wreaths to place during the ceremony. This event marks the16th anniversary of the dedication of the Washington State Korean War Veterans Memorial.

Dignity Memorial Vietnam Wall coming

The Dignity Memorial Vietnam Wall - the traveling, three-quarter-scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C.  - will land at the Acacia Memorial Park in Seattle Aug. 14-16.  Dedicated to Vietnam veterans and honoring all U.S. service-men and women, the faux-granite replica is 240 feet long, eight feet high and contains the names of more than 58,000 Americans who died or are missing in Vietnam.
