Each boutique in Tacoma has something special to offer the up-and-coming fashion scene. However, it is no wonder that the only one featured in Crave Seattle, a book written by Melody Biringer on everything chic and stylish, is Sonja on North 21st Street. The cute corner shop has a warm, inviting vibe and carries amazing brands such as Sweet Pea and Worn — to name a few. The dress selection is perfect for special occasions or high school dances with vintage-inspired looks in sexy satin, done by Betsy Johnson and Max and Cleo. Fashionista Sonja Silverman, owner of Sonja's, poses beautifully next to her PJ salvage line, which may be some of the softest pajamas known to man. Her top is Westin Wear from Anthropology. She casually throws a brown sweater over it — done by Kersh, a brand that adds a fun twist to basic must-haves and sold exclusively in her boutique. She dresses up her outfit with a necklace she made herself and adorable Volatile flats sold at her shop. Silverman is also the creator of the infamous “Gritty Tacoman” T-shirts. Gritty meaning courageous, brave and plucky, which accurately describes the City of Destiny’s prideful locals. So come shop at one of Tacoma's best overall stores to snag an original Gritty Tacoman tee or any other savvy piece your wardrobe may be missing.
