Spring forward

Carmen digs on spring and Seattle.

I’m the pretty lady you all know who loves to get her beauty sleep, which is exactly why I think that the time change in springing forward absolutely blows.

I got to work an hour late on Monday, not because I’d forgotten to set my clock forward, but just based on the sheer principle that losing an hour of rest is a terrible, terrible thing.

However, I’m so relieved and excited that spring is just around the corner and I can smell it in the air!

Farrelli’s Friday

I was famished on Friday, and since it was payday, I couldn’t wait to throw down some cash on a good dinner.

I headed to Farrelli’s on Sixth Avenue to meet K to the K. The proprietors of Farrelli’s were genius in selecting that spot that was filled with what appeared to be UPS students and community members.

I grabbed a salad loaded with some of the crunchiest croutons (sooo good) and the Great Greek Pizza (even better!). I finished with nibbles on a chocolate spumoni dessert, which was the conclusion to a perfect experience at that awesome establishment. Farrelli’s is great!

After, K to the K and I rolled to the West End Pub down the street to meet up with some of her crew, including Kathy, my new friend who, coincidentally, is professionally responsible for keeping GQ Tony’s teeth so sparkly and white (no wonder!).

So many old friends showed up at the West End including my buds from college, Seth and Jason. Emmalee also met us, and we took over our own table, which was quickly populated with my other buddy, Brown Cow and a dude I’d never met before, Tim. It was all a crazy coincidence because Tim is actually one of my neighbors (Eastside represent!) and Brown Cow and I had so much fun talking about our general assortment of whacked-out ideas. I couldn’t stop laughing, especially when he started applying our lipstick in an effort to make his trip home more interesting. What a flawless night.

Seattle Saturday

Saturday, Natasha and I headed to Seattle for the night. We snuck into the Owl N Thistle to give Best Friend Colin boob hugs, then we cabbed it to the Tractor Tavern for Tacoma’s Fucking Eagles, plus Star Anna and Mark Pickerel show. As soon as we arrived, CWU Natasha was in socialite heaven because all of the people in the room were basically from Tacoma, Seattle and Ellensburg (each of her domains!).

The show itself was incredible. Star Anna is a 21-year-old out of Ellensburg who is prodigal in every sense of the word. Her music was alluring and sweet, filled with soul and a small dose of country. Nice!

As always, the Fucking Eagles fucking rocked. They rolled out some of the new tracks from the album that they’re working on now. Of course, I loved every one, and they blew that stage up.

And the headliner, Mark Pickerel with His Praying Hands, was amazing. His new wave, country, melodramatic pop just makes you happy on the inside.

I couldn’t stop giggling Sunday because, once again, I can’t believe how much fun I got away with over the weekend
