CHOCOLATE TOUR
Participating businesses in Tacoma's Sixth Avenue neighborhood invite you to drop by for chocolates noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 25. Stroll around the district and collect chocolates from more than 25 locally owned and operated small businesses. Bring a friend and find your new favorite place to shop, eat, experience art or just hang out. Buy your ticket at Ubiquitous Journey (2607 Sixth Ave., Tacoma) or online at freeunw.com. Tickets are $11 and proceeds benefit Free University, an emerging local non-profit whose mission is to bring the community closer together through learning.
DINE OUT FOR LIFE
Join the Pierce County AIDS Foundation to help raise funds for care, education and support of HIV/AIDS at their annual Dine Out For Life Thursday, April 30. Participating establishments include Joeseppi's, East West Café, Old Milwaukee, Marrow, Primo Grill, Parkway Tavern, The Hub, Doyle's and others, so there's a little something for everyone from sunrise to sunset. See the full list at PierceCountyAids.Org.
CONGRATULATIONS
Harmon Brewing Co. scored big this last weekend at the Leavenworth Ale Fest bringing home Best IPA with their Pt. Defiance IPA, the Runner Up Award for their Expedition Amber as well as Best in Show Brewery. We'd advise you to sip on some suds pronto at their venues, including the Harmon Tap Room at 204 Saint Helens Ave. in Tacoma.
DEFIANCE BAR & BISTRO
Defiance Bar & Bistro (5310 North Pearl Street, Tacoma) isn't opening its doors until June but they have announced that when they do open, early morning grub will include baked goods from Corina Bakery. Good call.
