SEASONAL SOCIAL

Like many establishments, The Social Bar and Grill (1715 Dock St., Tacoma) is unveiling some new seasonal flavors - one of which is a new seafood dish, The Point Defiance Pasta! Prawns, with calamari, corn, roasted red pepper, herb butter, parsley served with a piece of their amazing grilled rustic bread. Probably pairs perfectly with their "shareable" pitchers of sangria on their patio overlooking the Foss Waterway.

TROUT BEERS

ParkWay Tavern (313 North I Street, Tacoma) will throw a fundraiser from 6-10 p.m. Thursday, April 16 in support of endangered steelhead trout. Fifty cents of every beer, wine or cider will be donated to the Wild Steelhead Coalition. Drink Like a Fish for Steelhead. See more details about the non-profit at wildsteelheadcoalition.org.

PIE A PI PHI

Though there is no eating of pie, there is some tossing of pies from 2-4 p.m. Friday, April 17 at the Wheelock Student Center on the University of Puget Sound campus (1500 N. Warner St., Tacoma). This spring fundraiser in support of LITERACY! includes the opportunity to pie a Pi Phi in the face and raffle opportunities to score a Kindle Fire and other cool prizes. Pies and raffle tickets are $1 each with proceeds benefitting Pi Beta Phi Literacy and Friendship Funds.

BEER FLOATS

Celebrate spring at the Beer Float Social at Pint Defiance (2049 Mildred St., Tacoma) from 3-6 p.m. Saturday, April 18. Lovers of the hops and those with a sweet tooth are in pure heaven with seasonal sippers like Southern Tiers infamous Crème Brulee, Ballast Point Grapefruit Sculpin, Paulaner Salvator Doppleboch and D's Wicked Baked Apple Cider served (root)beer float style with delectable Ice Cream Social scoops concocted to pair with these specific brews. This is an ice cream social for the grown-ups.
