TEA AND TRADITIONS

The first Saturday of every month, The Asia Pacific Cultural Center (4851 South Tacoma Way, Tacoma) hosts an enlightening gathering about tea and the traditions tied to it through different Asian Pacific cultures. The next monthly tea experience is 10 a.m., Nov. 1. Although tea drinking began in China; Korea, Japan, India and other Asia Pacific cultures have their own way of drinking it. Come and gain knowledge about these different customs. November's class focuses on Tonga. To make a reservation, call 253.383.3900.

BIKE TO MAD HAT TEA

Downtown Sports Bike 253 and Downtown on the Go host a "Bike to a Business" movement during November. Some downtown Tacoma businesses will be offering specials to those who put away the car keys for the day and brave the elements. Mad Hat Tea is one of them. Ride your bike to Mad Hat (1130 Commerce St., Tacoma) and through the month of November you receive 10 percent off loose leaf tea purchases or half-off cups of tea. You might need to warm your insides after a brisk bike around town.

SPANISH WINE TASTING

Pour at Four (3814 N. 26th St., Tacoma) hosts a Spanish wine tasting from 5:30-8 p.m. The Proctor District wine bar will welcome Gil Family Estates, who own a total of nine estates throughout Spain. The wine tasting will include a little wine education and loads of sipping and swirling. Tasting is complimentary and bottles tend to be available for purchase if you happen to discover a new varietal you admire.
