SAVOR SOUTH SOUND

The Thurston County Fair (3054 Carpenter Road, Lacey) will host a Savor South Sound beer, wine and cider tasting from 5-10 p.m. Aug. 1-2. The special section will features more than a dozen craft beer, wine and hard cider producers from the Pacific Northwest. Sip your way through creations from Whitewood Cider, Fish Tale Ales, Stottle Winery, NoLi Brewhouse, 10 Barrel Brewery and others paired with local shellfish prepared by the Nisqually Indian Tribe and farm to table small plates by Friends of the Market. Tickets are $10 in addition to Thurston County Fair admission.

BROWNS POINT SALMON BAKE

Gather around the Brown's Point Lighthouse Park (201 Ton-A-Wan-Da Ave. Dr., Tacoma) from noon to 8 p.m. Aug. 2-3 and partake in the "Original Browns Point Salmon Bake." Festivities include games for the little ones, live entertainment and a beer garden paired with, of course, salmon baked over an alderwood fire, corn on the cob and salad. Hungry folks can also opt for hotdogs, burgers, shakes and more.

NORTHWEST MOUNTAIN WINERY

Fire pit and wine, what's not to like? Every second Saturday of the month Northwest Mountain Winery (2825 Marvin Road NE, Olympia) hosts an evening of extended hours so wine lovvas can cozy up to the fire pit with friends and sample their varietals, share a bottle or just a glass. Tasting fee is $5. The next session is Saturday, Aug. 9th from 4 to 9 p.m.
