NEW SIPS AND BITES

Two Tacoma restaurants have updated menus. Hilltop Kitchen (913 Martin Luther King Jr Way) has added spicy cocktails such as its Hot Pants - a boozy concoction of ghost pepper infused cachaca, grapefruit juice, falernum and sparkling wine. Bite Restaurant in the Hotel Murano (1320 Broadway) has introduced a three-course Early Bird Menu.

THREE-COURSE DEAL

Stanley and Seafort's (115 E. 34th St., Tacoma) offers a three-course meal deal with its popular prime rib in the spotlight accompanied by soup or salad and dessert for $35.95 through the month of January.

FOOD JUSTICE

King's Books (218 Saint Helens, Tacoma) hosts the Food Justice Book Club at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22. Organized by the Pierce County Gleaning Project, participants will be reading fiction, nonfiction and memoir-themed novels centered on food justice, gleaning and food security. The current featured title is Everything I Want to Do Is Illegal by Joel Salatin, which is available for purchase at Kings. This group will meet on the fourth Wednesday of every month.

CRAFT BEER DINNER

Duke's Chowder House (3327 Ruston Way, Tacoma) hosts a craft beer dinner at 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 30. This decadent and hops filled journey will take patrons through a five-course meal paired with five craft brews from 7 Seas Brewing, Deschutes, Sierra Nevada, Sound Brewery and Oakshire Brewing. Ticket price is $64 plus tax and gratuity. Call 206.985.9466 to purchase seats.
