DRINK WINE FOR THE CHILDREN

Treos is not your average cafe. Though you can get a superb cup of the roasted bean, they also have a lovely selection of vino. Friday May 10, Treos (2312 N. 30th St., Tacoma) will give you a good excuse to try some of their selecting playing host to Raise Your Glass to Save the Music. Treos is joining forces with local musicians and William Hill Winery to promote music in our schools. With each glass of wine you purchase $1 will go to benefit scholarships, instruments and music instructors salaries.

UNITED WE DRINK, DIVIDED WE DRINK

The industry is abuzz with news of cocktail extraordinaire Chris Keil's departure from 1022 South and simultaneously foaming at the mouth to visit his upcoming venture in the Hilltop Kitchen. In support of the transitioning 1022 South staffs' farewell Friday May 10 there will be drinking, dancing and merriment hosted at Classic Concepts Group (2516 S. Holgate, Tacoma). Raise your glass to United We Drink, Divided We Drink. Ten whoppers at the door gets you two cocktails, but a glimpse of some flavors you can anticipate from Hilltop Kitchen. Music will be provided by Taxi Driver and DJs Najamonique and Mr. Melanin. If that wasn't enough you can also bring a blank T-shirt, as screen-printing will be on site for $10. Doors open at 9 p.m.

COOKING CLASS

May 19 marks your last opportunity to attend one of Toscanos Café's (437 29th St. NE, Puyallup) popular cooking courses ... until the fall season. Its Italian Spring Cooking Class includes a 5-course dining experience that involves a cooking demonstration by Chef Tom Pantley, dinner recipes, instruction and wine samples as well as tax and gratuity for $60. BARBECUE WINES

To prepare all you drinkers of fermented vine fruits (aka wine-os) for Memorial Day and beyond - as far as the barbecue season goes - Pour at Four (3814 N. 26th St., Tacoma) will be dedicating their upcoming tasting event to backyard barbecue wines. This complementary tastings highlights some fabulous wines that pair well with outdoor cuisine. This tasting event is held Wednesday, May 15 from 5:30-8 p.m.
