Big changes in business structure are nothing new. Kathie Novasky can attest to that. Since launching her own Dinners Done Right (a meal preparation service) in Tacoma four years ago, Novasky says clientele has shifted from mostly dual parent households to include singles, single-parent families and older couples.

Lemon zest and garlic pork tenderloin, tomato-herb compote on Mediterranean cod and honey-mustard- and ketchup-glazed cheddar cheese meatloaf are but a sampling of the monthly rotating entrée selections offered by Novasky's locally owned Dinners Done Right. Adjustments can be made to accommodate dietary restrictions like gluten sensitivity and vegetarian preferences, but vegan is a little trickier, says Novasky. Whole grain can be subbed for white bread, seasoning and spiciness tailored to personal preference, herbs can be added and meals made low-fat.

Pre-frozen or fresh meals come packaged in recyclable aluminum or Ziploc bags with instructions for thawing or immediate cooking in a traditional oven, on the stove top or on a barbeque. Designed as dinners, meals can be portioned out for kids, lighter lunches or snacks.

Not just about making dinner for you, kids cooking classes are set to begin this summer, with a focus on nutrition and table etiquette.

Food Stamp EBT is accepted.
