Some of the area's best food is no longer in brick and mortar buildings, but instead congregate on wheels at festival spaces around the country.  The South Sound is no exception - there are a few food truck fests planned, including this weekend at Wright Park in Tacoma.

Metro Parks Tacoma is holding their second annual Food Truck Festival, Sunday, July 19 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. with 23 different food trucks spread across the park.

The trucks literally roll in from far and wide with everything from standard burgers, pizza, hot dogs and ice cream, but also Hawaiian, Argentine and Mexican street food, Indian, Shwarma, falafel, vegan, something called New Orleans style stuffed snowcones and Filipino-Japanese fusion.

It's more than food for the stomach, but also music to the ears with live performances throughout the day. Stephanie Anne Johnson, a Tacoma native and third runner up on season five of NBC's The Voice in 2013 plays her soulful style and catchy blend of blues and rock. She splits her time now between touring with her band and teaching music lessons at The Gig Spot, an all ages musical theatre group in Gig Harbor. You can also catch her upcoming performance at the Broadway Center in Ain't Misbehavin'.

The food fest also has the ubiquitos beer garden, but this one features local icons Engine House No. 9 and Powerhouse Breweries.

For families, Wright Park is also equipped with a playground and a sprayground for free entertainment.

Metro Park's Food Truck Fest is free to attend, diners simply pay at each truck when they order.  For the list of vendors, music schedule, and more, go to metroparkstacoma.org/foodtruckfest.
