We've seen many restaurants come and go through the years, while some have remained Tacoma staples. We can celebrate the seventh anniversary of one such staple downtown with the Pacific Grill on Aug. 27.

Pacific Grill has won a place in our hearts and stomachs thanks to their unpretentious fine dining atmosphere and has earned gold stars and accolades for their all-day happy hour menu and culinary delights.

When asked about their secrets to success, marketing director Jacob Rose says great food and service are the keys.

"Our extensive all-day happy hour menu keeps the seats full in our bar and lounge and draws people from all around the region," Rose says. "We also have the best staff. You will see many of the same faces that you have seen here five or even seven years ago. Our sexy historic building doesn't hurt either!"

I hadn't given much thought to the sexiness of the Waddell Building, but now that he mentions it, yea, it's got some sex appeal as far as buildings go.

Beginning at 4 p.m. Monday, you can mingle, nibble and sip in a celebratory fashion with an assortment of complimentary items from their happy hour menu while DJ Mr. Melanin spins the party's soundtrack. While details are still to be announced, you can likely look forward to cheeseburger sliders, chicken wings, charcuterie and cheese, grilled cheese sandwiches and an assortment of desserts (my personal favorite).

Like with any great birthday party, there will be the opportunity to win goodies just by attending. Every attendee receives an entry into an impressive raffle with prizes that include gift cards for both Pacific Grill and its sister establishment, Classics by Pacific Grill, a one-year family membership to Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium, a movie package from The Grand Cinema, four tickets to the LeMay - America's Car Museum, a gift basket from The Mix, a one night stay for two at Courtyard Marriott, services from Clara's Day Spa and a $50 Voucher to Broadway Center for the Performing Arts.

Aside from celebrating a grand seven years in Tacoma, this is also an excellent opportunity to do a little happy dance for more Pacific Grill goodness in Tacoma, with Classics by Pacific Grill opening in the LeMay - America's Car Museum. While there will be some of your favorites from Pacific Grill featured on the Classic's menu, you will also be introduced to new sandwiches and salads, as well as a beer and wine selection. Want more good news? Museum admission won't be required to dine there.

Rose says of the new location, " The café has one of the best views in town: the downtown Tacoma skyline, Thea Foss Waterway, Commencement Bay, Murray Morgan Bridge, 21st Street Cable-Stay Bridge ... we have it all. So in this seventh year we will be working to get the word out around town about Classics."

(Aug. 27, 4 to 7 p.m. at Pacific Grill, 1502 Pacific Avenue, Tacoma)
