Hobbies can turn into businesses. That's how Christina Davis and husband, Spc. Jaron Davis of the 21st Signal Battalion, began Jaron and Christina Davis Creations (JCDC).

A love of photography was a pivotal point in their relationship when they realized the passion for photography was a common bond between them.  Though they each had different backgrounds in the use of cameras, the passion to take photos to record people and events was strong with each of them.

Jaron studied journalism before entering the Army and continues to take photos as much as possible.  He has always enjoyed the opportunities to capture Mother Nature at her finest.

Christina began her almost earnest passion to capture people when she suffered a major loss with the death of a close friend.  Not having a lot of reminders of the time spent with her friend was the beginning of her desire to make sure no one else could become a forgotten face.

Photography isn't the only hobby turned business for this couple. The second element of JDCD is all about cake, but not eating it. Davis has been decorating cakes since her teen years. She refers to decorating as "her Zen."  While she enjoys getting just the right shot of her cakes, Jaron enjoys snapping pictures of her while decorating. He is also happy to roll up his sleeves to assist his wife when she needs a set of extra hands with the cake that she is decorating

Photos and an accompanying cake are complimented by the third element of JCDC, which is when Jaron creates the invitations for the event. He also designs logos, designs, place cards, banners and more for businesses, friends and clients.

Davis understands the stress that comes with making sure everything goes well the day of a special event. She said one advantage of JCDC is that they can help reduce the stress by being there for the event.  It starts with the creation of the invitations and the colors chosen match the cake.  Then on the special day, JCDC is there to capture all the important moments from the bride walking down the aisle to that little cousin having a conversation with an older family member.

The Davis' have four children that are being raised "with cameras in their faces," Christina said.  While they may grow tired of having their own photographs taken, they are learning to take them one pose at a time.

The husband and wife team understand how important it is to capture the joyful moments in a family.  Their photo sessions for families are not based on an hourly rate at this time. Their goal is to capture the smiles of children, not the tears that can come from a short photo session. For more information, contact them at www.jcdc.co and check out more cake designs at www.facebook.com/christinascustomcakes. JCDC offers complimentary pre-deployment photo sessions as their way of thanking other Servicemembers and their families for the sacrifices they make to serve.
