National Furniture & Bedrooms is a locally owned company that provides outstanding service to its customers.

"We've been in the area for over 20 years," said John Oxsen, the company's general manager, as he sat on a comfortable sofa in the Puyallup store.

"We do the best thing for the customer; we make sure we get it right."

In addition to the Puyallup location, the company has two stores in Silverdale and one in Lakewood.

National Furniture & Bedrooms offers its customers middle of the line furniture selection featuring living room, bedroom, dining and youth bedroom collections.

The store also carries a full line of mattress and box spring sets, waterbeds, upholstery, occasional tables and décor items, entertainment centers, and dining and bedroom furnishings.

"What we have to offer is furniture for the working class; for people who work hard for their money," continued Oxsen.

Along with the furniture selection, Oxsen made it clear that he and his sales staff consider the military to be valued customers.

"We've worked with the military for a very long time," said Oxsen.

"We offer military discounts; we respect the work they do; we know they want value for their money."

In the Lakewood branch of National Furniture & Bedrooms, Oxsen said that over 50 percent of his customers are military members.

Keeping its operations lean, its staff well trained and experienced and the value of the furniture in the mid price range, the store has held its own during the recent economic downturn.

Oxsen explained that the manufacturers he works with understood early on that by offering new products at reasonable prices would maintain customer loyalty.

"Our sales people do not use high pressure tactics to convince people to buy," explained Oxsen.

"Our people have a good time helping customers find what they need; the furniture sells itself."
