For the past 40 years, the University of Phoenix has existed "to provide working adults with higher education at times convenient to them" (www.phoenix.edu) through both online and campus-based classes, including classes held on the campus of Clover Park Technical College (CPTC) located at 4500 Steilacoom Boulevard SW in Lakewood.

"CPTC's partnership with the University of Phoenix increases student success and educational access," said Tawny Dotson, interim vice president for strategic development at CPTC. "Having the university on our campus strengthens our relationship for articulations and encourages our students to transfer and continue their higher education."

According to Bruce Williams, a spokesperson for The University of Phoenix, "individuals who have earned an Associate of Arts degree at Clover Park Technical College and have met the University's math and English prerequisites have the opportunity to transfer seamlessly into the Bachelor of Science in Business program at University of Phoenix. The relationship provides Clover Park students with well-defined paths to bachelor's degree completion and simplifies the transfer process."

The University of Phoenix assists CPTC students who wish to transfer into its Bachelor of Science in Business program by providing them with transcript evaluations as well as accepting pre-applications from students who are in their final year at CPTC.

"University of Phoenix business degree programs can help students gain skills that employers value because the curriculum is informed by industry, and instructors are current professionals who make hiring and business decisions every day," said Williams.

The University of Phoenix's Bachelor of Science in Business program offers a number of specializations, including Accounting, Administration, Finance, Global Management, Small Business Management & Entrepreneurship, Marketing and Project Management. Information about accreditation and transfer opportunities, as well as program transfer guides, are available at www.phoenix.edu.

Since 1941, CPTC has provided vocational and technological training to residents of western Washington. According to its website, CPTC "offers 56 degrees and 56 certificates in a variety of practical career fields," including Aerospace and Advanced Manufacturing;  Health Sciences and Human Services; Business and Hospitality; Science, Technology and Engineering; and Transportation and Trades.

The college also offers an 11-week course entitled "Fundamental Skills for Manufacturing and Engineering" specifically designed for active-duty soldiers who will soon transition from military to civilian life and careers.
