STRIKE ONE

Deadspin.com - the sports worlds' leader in penis-related breaking news and everything else bizarre or downright absurd - uncovered and posted videos this week that appear to show Jets coach Rex Ryan's wife, Michelle, in what at first glance would seem to be a compromising position ... that is until you realize she likely made the videos herself (if it is, indeed, her).

You see, the videos, which apparently first appeared on YouTube a few years back from the user "ihaveprettyfeet," are foot-fetish related; some with titles like "Hot Mature Sexy Feet." In all of them, a women who looks much like Michelle Ryan shows off her feet - whether bare or in shoes or having lotion rubbed on them (hot! ... or not). In some of the videos the male cameraman can be heard making spicy comments, in a voice that sounds much like Rex Ryan's. But that's a discussion for another day. ...

A day like Wednesday, Dec. 22, when ESPN and the entire Jets press corps had already picked up on the story and hounded the (shall we say robust) coach during his usual, mid-week press conference.

"It's a personal matter and I'm really not going to discuss it, OK?" Ryan was quoted as saying.

Probably a good call ... although I might recommend not taping it and posting it on the Internet, too.

STRIKE TWO

There was good news for my golf game this week when the New York State Court of Appeals ruled Tuesday that errant shots on the course are an "inherent risk" of the game, and players can't expect a warning of "Fore!" whenever a nasty slice comes their way. The ruling came as part of the dismissal of a personal injury lawsuit.

According to an ESPN report of the case, friends and (former?) golf buddies Dr. Anoop Kapoor and Dr. Azad Anand were playing a nine-hole course in Long Island, NY, when Anand was struck in the head by Kapoor's bad shot - an injury that resulted in Anand being blinded in one eye. The court ruled that Kapoor's failure to yell "Fore!" after his miserable rough shot didn't amount to "intentional or reckless" conduct.

"The manner in which Anand was injured - being hit without warning by a ‘shanked' shot while one searches for one's own ball - reflects a commonly appreciated risk of golf," the court stated in its finding.

Besides setting a precedent, the case may mark the first time the term "shanked" has been used in an official court ruling.

Other "commonly appreciated risks" of golfing include khakis and funny socks.

STRIKE THREE

New York Giants' punter Matt Dodge has seen better days. As you've probably seen by now (likely ad nauseam), Dodge's last-play punt against the Eagles Sunday was returned for a touchdown by DeSean Jackson - breaking the game's tie score, and giving the Eagles a miraculous, come-from-behind victory. The Giants had previously held a 21-point lead in the fourth quarter. Always a dangerous return man, Dodge was instructed to punt the ball out of bounds instead of giving Jackson a shot at it.

Obviously, this didn't happen. ...

But (astoundingly) it gets even worse for Dodge. According to a report by Philadelphia radio personality Howard Eskin, Dodge was seen crying in the locker room after the game by Giants coach Tom Coughlin, and was immediately told to leave - the clear impression was that he was being cut on the spot and kicked out of the locker room.

On Wednesday, Dodge went on the radio himself, refuting the claim that Coughlin kicked him out or implied he was going to be cut. The fact that  Dodge is still on the team seems to support this take.

But, there's still got to be a, "get the hell out of Dodge," joke in here somewhere, right?

DUMB JOCK OF THE WEEK

Let's hand it to Mississippi State Bulldogs' forward Renardo Sidney, suspended for one game recently by the team after an outburst at practice while the Bulldogs were in Hawaii preparing for the Diamond Head Classic. While coach Rick Stansbury would cite only, "conduct detrimental to the team," as the reason for Sidney's one-game suspension, that didn't stop the 6-foot-10-inch, 270-pound baller from taking his case to Twitter.

"Haha," Sidney reportedly tweeted of the suspension. "keep hating people am loving it. ..."

At least one thing is certain: During that suspension Sidney would be wise to spend extra time with his grammar tutor.

LOCAL BLACKOUT

After being benched during last Sunday's game against the Atlanta Falcons, much-beleaguered Seattle Seahawks quarterback Matt Hasselbeck will be back in the starting lineup this week when the team travels to Tampa Bay for what seems sure to be its seventh loss in the last nine games. On the bright side, at least Matt's wife is a lot cooler than his brother's.
