No matter what type of car you own, whether domestic or foreign, truck or sedan, old or new, it will need oil changes. With all the competition out there, it's tough to know where to drive your business. Below is a list of local shops that offer the best deals, military discounts and quick no-appointment-necessary service.

• Jiffy Lube (multiple locations) offers 15 percent off of all services for active military. Their average oil change price before discount is $39, but it also includes a full car wash. Locations near Fort Lewis and McChord Air Force Base include DuPont (995 Center Drive, 360-413-0220), Lacey (1474 Marvin Road, 253.964.8893), Lakewood (5310 100th St. SW, 253-582-7427) and Tacoma (13803 Pacific Avenue S., 253-536-7727).

• Auto Lube of Lakewood (9901 Gravelly Lake Drive SW, 253-582-3300) offers 10 percent off of services.

• Aamco Transmissions & Total Car Care (12012 Pacific Highway SW, Lakewood, 253-538-7011) and Courtesy Auto Service (4504 Pacific Avenue SE, Lacey 360-491-3030) offer 10 percent off of labor, so an oil change would have a partial discount.

• Classy Chassis Xpress Oil Center (7701 Custer Road, Lakewood, 253-284-9274) offers 10 percent off of services.

• Oil Can Henry's, which has two locations in Lacey (4660 Whitman Lane, 360-923-4100 and 197 Marvin Road, 360-456-8899), offers 10 percent off of services.

• Grease Monkey (17901 Pacific Ave. S. Spanaway, 253-846-2899) offers 10 percent off of oil changes.

• Auto-Lube 10 Minute Oil Change (1202 S. 38th Street, Tacoma, 253-474-6004) offers 10 percent off of every service.

For those who want to get their car serviced on base or post, Firestone has locations on both Fort Lewis and McChord. The Fort Lewis Firestone (253-964-1090), located next to the commissary, charges $28 plus tax for a standard oil change and does accept appointments.

The McChord Firestone (253-584-6830), located right outside the B/X, charges $26 plus tax for standard oil changes and also accepts appointments, as well as walk-ins. 

Here are some other businesses that do not offer military discounts on oil changes but do have the best deals.

• Walt's Auto Care Centers (13101 Pacific Avenue S., Tacoma, 253-531-2200) offers a 10 percent discount on other services, but excludes oil changes due to the fact that they already on sale at $19.99.

• J & H Auto Repair (2720 Marvin Way E. Olympia, 360-352-9772) doesn't offer a military discount but does have the best price for an oil change at $16.99.
