Have a hankering to strut your stuff as a model?  Here’s your chance.

The Fort Lewis Ranger is hosting a Valentine’s Day party for the spouses of deployed soldiers that will include a fashion show sponsored by Vixen’s House of Shoes and Apparel.

The party and fashion show is a way to help make Valentine’s Day more bearable during the service member’s absence, Ondia Shapiro, the owner of Vixen’s said.

“Valentine’s Day is so depressing when you spend it alone,” Shapiro said. “You totally miss the one you love when they are not around on Valentine’s Day. We hope this will make the day easier for the spouses.”

The Las Vegas style event will be held on February 14, from 2 to 7 p.m. at St. Martin’s Pavilion in Lacey.  Activities planned for the party include a fashion show, hypnotist, entertainment, spa treatments, gift bags and lots of fun.

The fashion show will be comprised of the spouses of deployed service members.   Shapiro was approached to sponsor the fashion show by a friend, and agreed because her husband’s best friend is deployed, and her husband is training to join the military as well, she said.

The fashion show will feature women of all heights from size 0 to 16, Shapiro said.  “The only thing that I require is that the women wear high heels to the calls,” she said. “They have to be able to walk in heels.”

Models will wear attire that includes dresses and lingerie.  To audition, drop by Vixen’s located at 2614 B 6th Ave., Tacoma for one of four model calls being held from 1 – 4 p.m. on December 8, 15, 22, and 29th.

After the model calls are completed, fifteen spouses will be selected to participate in the fashion show.  The women chosen for the show must commit the entire February 14 day to the show.  The morning of the party, models will be trained and have their hair and makeup done.
