The Spazmatics

In a single week in 1983 (July 24-30), the top 10 singles on the Billboard "Hot 100" included "Every Breath You Take," "Electric Avenue," "Flashdance...What a Feeling," "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)," "Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'" and "Our House." Killer singles like those boxed Prince's "1999" and Def Leppard's "Rock of Ages" out of the top 10 altogether. My point is it was a great time to be a music spaz. That's why you, my fellow child of the '80s, need to squeeze into your old 501s and Members Only jacket (good luck!), embiggen your hair and motor your bitchin' self to Jazzbones. The Spazmatics are in town, dude! - with gnarly covers of all your favorites, including "Girls Just Want to Have Fun," "Take on Me" and a pitch-perfect "Bohemian Rhapsody" (technically 1975, but shut up). It's a totally awesome, high-energy song-and-dance show that'll have you, like, stoked to the max. Cool beans, McFly!

THE SPAZMATICS, 9 p.m. Jazzbones, 2803 Sixth Ave., Tacoma, $6-$8, 253.396.9169
