Heralded Chinese painter Xu Yongmin heads to Tacoma Wednesday for a public lecture titled, "Changing Art Education in China's Art Academies." The event, which marks the opening of his High Wind exhibit - set to be on display at the University's Kittredge Art Gallery March 20 through April 7 - combines two things Yongmin knows well, art and education, having earned widespread acclaim for his brushwork and his teaching and instructional prowess.

According to the press release, during his visit to the Puget Sound, "Yongmin will give painting demonstrations to art students and work with students interested in calligraphy."

All of this Yongmin action is supported by the Catharine Gould Chism Fund, the Puget Sound Department of Art and the Asian Studies Program.
