The Augustana Symphonic Band - from Augustana College in Rock Island, Ill. - has some history behind it.

Like, a lot of history.

A history that goes all the way back to 1874, the year the Augustana Symphonic Band was born. 138 years later, the squad of highly-trained wind instrument Jedis descends on Parkland and Pacific Lutheran University, intent on expertly delivering works from contemporary composer Kevin Walczyk and the not-so-contemporary John Philip Sousa, dubbed "our nation's master of the march," in pre-show hype. According to the same hype, "For this tour, director Dr. James Lambrecht has devised a program worthy of a band so grounded in history."

See and hear for yourself Saturday.
