Did you realize there was such a thing as the Pierce County Gleaning Project? How about the Gleaning Book Club, which meets on the first Tuesday of every month at King's Books? Just struggling to understand what we're talking about? Well, "gleaning," as described by the aforementioned Gleaning Project, is the act of "collecting surplus food after harvest from farms, gardens, and orchards." The awesome part happens when that bounty is distributed to local food banks and those in need. This month's Gleaning Book Club meeting will discuss Stuffed & Starved: The Hidden Battle for the World Food System by Raj Patel.
