It’s a new week, which means it’s time for a new installment of Bobble Tiki’s South Sound music news and notes column. Without further ado, let’s get rolling.

First of all, as hardcore fans of The Supersuckers may already know, long time guitarist — and Tacoman — Ron “Rontrose” Heathman has left the band. Apparently the co-owner of Satellite Coffee and all around righteous dude just got tired of the “grind” — which, for The Supersuckers, has been going on since before many of you were even born. Supersuckers leader Eddie Spaghetti explained the situation in an email to fans.

“(Heathman) has decided to finally cut himself loose from the grind that this band can be and while we are sad to see him go, we wish him all the best in whatever it is he decides to do. We hope he finds the happiness that has eluded him over the last couple of years,” wrote Spaghetti. “That said, the show must roll on, and roll on it will! We have recruited the same fella who did such an awesome job when Ron took an extended hiatus from the band seven years ago, the incredible Mr. Marty Chandler to fill in for now, and while we all know that filling the big shoes of Rontrose is a tough gig, we feel that Marty is up for the challenge.”

On a more upbeat note, many in Tacoma will get their first peak at the Speakeasy Art Co-op this weekend when Kristin Connell releases her new, very good, CD — Dance of Love Saturday, Oct. 17. Expect Bobble Tiki to be doing a dance of excitement over the endless possibilities this new space presents. The Speakeasy Art Co-op is located at 746 Broadway in Tacoma.

Finally, Blame it on the Girl will play Bob’s Java Jive on Friday before embarking on a Californian tour. For those not familiar, Blame it on the Girl is a band that includes former members of Never Quiet Never Still. This band is hot in so many ways. If you have yet to check them out, Bobble Tiki suggests you do so Friday at the Jive.

UPDATE: The Blame it on the Girl canceled the show Friday night due to illness.
