NEW PASTRY CHEF

The Mandolin Café welcomes California Culinary Academy graduate Kimberli Frazer to their lineup. Frazer was selected as one of 12 regional chefs to appear on KCTS Chefs 2006. Stop by for her cakes, cheesecakes, cookies and more at 3923 S. 12 St. in Tacoma.

BERRY BEST PIE

The Thurston County Fair’s Best Berry Pie Contest is Saturday, Aug. 1 in the Thurston Expo Center at 3054 Carpenter Road in Lacey. Entries will be accepted Saturday from noon to 2 p.m. For more details, call 360.786.5453.

TEA CEREMONY

TIJUANA TACO

The Lakewood Mexican joint turns 40 this summer. To celebrate they will offer 99-cent bean burritos, bean tostadas and tacos every Wednesday and Sunday in August. The Lakewood Chamber of Commerce will go nuts in front of the restaurant Aug. 5 at 5:30 p.m. Drop by and wish them another happy 40 years at 10005 Bristol Ave. S.W. just off 100th Street on the north side of the Lakewood Towne Center.
