ADVENTURELAND: Director Greg Mottola, who made the rather wonderful Superbad, is back now with a sweeter story, more quietly funny, again about a hero who believes he may be a virgin outstaying his shelf life. Jesse Eisenberg, from The Squid and the Whale, plays James, who has a degree in Renaissance studies. (The movie is set in the 1980s, and there may still be a few jobs around.) He’s out of his element at Adventureland; Bobby has to coach him to fake enthusiasm when he announces the horse race game, where you advance your horse by rolling balls into holes. His performance reminded me uncannily of my last visit to Dave & Buster’s. (R) Three Stras — Roger Ebert

FAST & FURIOUS: Exactly and precisely what you’d expect.  Nothing more, unfortunately.  You get your cars that are fast and your characters that are furious.  The fourth in the series, with Vin Diesel, Paul Walker and the other major cast members from the original 2001 movie now back again.  Who cares? (PG-13) One and a half stars – RE

MOSCOW, BELGIUM: Matty is a 41-year-old postal worker in Belgium, raising her three kids after her husband has walked out.  Johnny is a late-20s truck driver who falls in love with her.  Then her husband wants to come home.  Could have been a sitcom, but owes more to the Mike Leigh tradition of daily lives observed with humor and a little sadness. • The Grand Cinema: Fri-Thurs, April 9 2:15, 4:30, 6:45, 9. Also Sat-Sun noon.

SUNSHINE CLEANING: Amy Adams and Emily Blunt star as sisters, desperate for income, who start a business mopping up after messy murder scenes.  Steve Zahn is a faithless lover, Clifton Collins Jr. is a warmhearted hardware store owner, and Alan Arkin is the girls’ dad, hatching get-poor-quick schemes.  A lot of promising material, never quite assembled into a film that holds together.
