I’m a huge James Hume fan, so when he tells me this month’s Kulture Lab on Saturday, Jan. 24 is going to be a bizarre and incredibly amazing art event, I trust him. This month’s Kulture Lab holds a whole new arena for craziness in Tacoma. Not only do they have new potties (yay!), but Hume also tells me, “Everything’s different from the last event but the front door.” Nice. Then he tells me the current theme: “Alice in Kulture Lab.” Um, what? Mr. Hume, you need to explain.

STEPH DEROSA: What in the hell does “Alice in Kulture Lab” mean anyway?

JAMES HUME: It’s an Alice in Wonderland/Alice in Chains/Alice Cooper/ psychedelic kind-of-thing.

DEROSA: Surprisingly, that makes sense to me. What do you expect to see people wearing to this Alice in Kulture Lab event?

HUME: It’s a vast interpretation for many. I hope to see all forms of the Queen of Hearts, and of course the character Alice. I also hear most are choosing the Mad Hatter and Bunny roles to play.

DEROSA: Besides having a fantastic local band performing, what other acts will be there to entertain us? Last month was a body painted fairy. How could you possibly top that?

HUME: Oh, man, we have a very sexy burlesque dancer this time by the name of Fuschia Foxxx. Note the three X’s on her last name.

DEROSA: Noted. Now tell me the last triple X thing you’ve done. Spill.

HUME: Well, about two years (ago) on the stage at Hell’s Kitchen I had to change clothes with a woman in a timed contest. I was buck-naked on that stage, and didn’t care who saw.

DEROSA: Awesome! Did you win?

HUME: No, I couldn’t get my big feet into her little shoes in time. The guy next to me won. His feet were smaller.

DEROSA: So now the question begs: Is it true what they say about guys with big feet?

HUME: Hell yeah it is!

DEROSA: Forget Alice in Wonderland, where can I get tickets to THAT show? Any chance for a VIP status?

HUME: It’s sold out, and your admission has eternally been denied.

DEROSA: Story of my life.
