Monotonix

The best show you will see all year

I make a lot of predictions here in the Weekly Volcano — about which shows will be cool and which shows will suck. Sometimes I’m right, and sometimes I’m wrong. That’s the nature of making predictions.

Every once in a while a surefire show hits town. Every once in a while a band world renowned for their live performances comes to Tacoma or Olympia and it’s all I can do to point people in the right direction and try to explain what a colossal mistake it would be to miss out.

Israel’s Monotonix is set to play the Brotherhood in Olympia this week, on Sunday, Feb 24. If you go, it’ll be the best show you’ve seen all year.

I promise.

Monotonix first hit my radar with the reviews they earned at SxSW last year. Considering the number of bands that play the annual music industry orgy, and the incredible talent that’s drawn to Austin for it, the fact that I heard time and time again that Monotonix, hands down, put on the best live performances of any rock band in attendance was truly impressive. From everything I’ve heard Monotonix is one of the most amazing live bands to grace beer covered stages in a long time.

Perhaps like you, Sunday will be my first time actually seeing Monotonix in person. I’m calling this a surefire show, and I’m willing to bet it will be. This band is loud, fearless, and reportedly the most energized group of rock ’n’ rollers you’ll ever see. That’s good enough for me. If you miss this one, you miss out. Period.
