Break out the party hats and cupcakes. There’s a celebration in the works at Tacoma Art Supply, whose owners recently celebrated surviving the first year of owning a new business.

And while the actual “opening day” was July 27, with a couple of unofficial first sales even before the calendar hit that number, Warren Caves will officially kick off the celebration during Showcase Tacoma with an anniversary sale.

And the banner marking the anniversary spot? Made by none other than Caves himself, artist as well as art supply and custom frame and canvas seller. — Jessica Corey-Butler

My Petite Pea

My Petite Pea moved into digs in the Stadium district carrying a variety of sweet goodies focusing on maternal goodness.  The fun stuff includes maternity clothes including the Japanese Weekend line and jeans by Paige Denim, as well as infant and children’s clothing and even some nursery furniture and children’s — and moms’ — toys and accessories.  Their hours will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.
