Bring on the Fireball

Getting my whiskey has never been so, well, on

Anyone who knows me at all can attest that I’m not that big of a hard liquor drinker.

Sure, I’ll throw down Cadillac margaritas and Ketel One and cranberries, but other than that, I stick to beer and red-headed slut, Washington apple or vitamin C shots.

I know those shots are pansy-like, but I’m just not that big of a fan of straight shots of much of anything, purely based on the taste.

I know so many of you are emphatic about Jameson and all kinds of tequila. I honestly can’t take either because regardless of my level of sobriety, they always make me want to hurl. That’s obviously not attractive.

But Donnie and Carter from Cans just recently introduced me to Dr. McGillicuddy’s Fireball Canadian whiskey.

One thing is for sure, any other kind of whiskey is twice as disgusting to me, personally. And because of that, when Donnie and Carter told me with a smile on their pretty faces that Fireball would change my life forever, I was more than a little skeptical.

However, I put my faith in those boys because they’ve never taken me down a treacherous path before, and after all, how much could a little sampler really hurt?

Then after one, tiny dabble of the Fireball that comes fresh off Cans’ sub-0 tap, I’m now hooked — and yes — my life is so very different now.

After a full shot of it, I decided that something so sinfully good had to be the new Scene of the Crime because I have no way of calculating what this awesome shot will do to me in the future.

Dr. McGillicuddy’s Fireball is a cinnamon-flavored whiskey that’s so smooth and has such a unique taste.

And for sissies like me who really don’t like the taste of hard alcohol, this 66-proofer is perfect.

Now that I’ve been formally introduced, I’m starting to notice it more and more everywhere I go, including that one shot of it that I took at Hotrod-a-rama, which completely threw me over the edge, right where I belonged.

Some Web sites that I took a look at encourage you to blend the Fireball with ingredients like Tabasco sauce or cranberry juice. As a retired bartender, that’s the last thing I’d recommend. Keep it pure, and take it chilled and straight, my peeps.

If you haven’t had it before, I encourage you to keep an eye out for it and give her a whirl. The power of the cinnamon and the subtle flavor of whiskey will take you to a place that you’ve never been before.

Grin as you let it change your life like it changed mine.
