It’s a new week, which means it’s time for a new installment of Bobble Tiki’s South Sound music news and notes column. Without further ado, let’s get rolling …

Excuse Bobble Tiki for a second while he blows his painfully congested Tiki nose. For the last few days Bobble Tiki has been stuck in the depths of infirmity, sleeping for hours at a time, waking up in pools of sweat, and overall just feeling cruddy. Bobble Tiki would really like to bitch and moan about his condition, but seeing as 47 percent of the Weekly Volcano office is afflicted with the same damn head cold, it probably wouldn’t do him any good.

In times like these, all a Tiki can do is persevere, which is exactly what Bobble Tiki plans to do.

On the sad news front, Bobble Tiki recently learned that one of his favorite Tacoma bands, Paris Spleen, will be calling it quits at the end of the month. No word on exactly why the indie rockers are moving on to hopefully bigger and better things, but Bobble Tiki suspects those Paris Spleen pants finally just got too tight.

Never fear, though — those who dig the jams of Paris Spleen as much as Bobble Tiki will be treated to one helluva going away party. Through the magic of the Internet, the band recently reached out to Bobble Tiki to let him know that Paris Spleen will play one final show, on Oct. 31 at O’Malley’s in Tacoma. According to the band, they’ll play all the way from 10 p.m.-2 a.m. and will be busting out every song they’ve ever written.

While Bobble Tiki hates to see Paris Spleen calling it quits, at least the band is going out in style. And since it’s Halloween, Bobble Tiki hears costumes are encouraged.

For the record, Bobble Tiki will be the island themed souvenir dressed like a PBR tallboy.
