John Totten and Marty Marquis play Le Voyeur

Imagine if Blitzen Trapper and the Quiet Ones played Le Voyeur in Olympia — the tiniest and most excellently eclectic room rooted in our Capitol City.

That, my friend, would be pretty fucking cool.

Well, tonight it won’t exactly be Blitzen and the Quiet Ones taking the stage at Le Voyeur — but it’ll be pretty damn close. That’s because John Totten, leader of Seattle’s Quiet Ones, and Marty Marquis of Blitzen Trapper fame, are embarking on a three-date, joint-venture solo tour that will bring both artists to Olympia on the last day of July.

That, my friend, is pretty fucking cool.

While it’s hard to gauge for sure just what this show will offer — since without their respective bandmates and bands it’s tough to say what Marquis or Totten will throw down at Le Voyeur — it’s safe to say whatever these two decide to unleash should be good. According to the Quiet Ones blog, “this will entail a lot of acoustic sing-a-longs and foot stompin’,” writes Totten of his tour with Marquis.

Who doesn’t like foot stompin’? Sing-a-longs, anyone?

For fans of the full on Quiet Ones — and their sometimes rootsy, always mind-grabbing pop rock, look for the band to release Better Walk Than Ride Like That, a follow-up to ’06’s much loved Nite You Surprised Me EP, in mid August — at least locally and on vinyl. A full scale national release of the new full-length record is expected by the end of the year.

But let’s not get ahead of ourselves. First things first.

John Totten of the Quiet Ones and Marty Marquis of Blitzen Trapper will be swinging through Olympia tonight — acoustic guitars in hand. If you’ve got any sense at all you’ll join them. It’ll be the show to catch this week in Oly.
