Even though the holidays have come and gone, spending time with the people you love should be practiced all year. In fact, married couples are encouraged to share at least one date night per month to increase marital happiness. According to the report "The Date Night Opportunity," written by W. Bradford Wilcox and Jeffrey Dew, "date nights may strengthen or rekindle that romantic spark that can be helpful in sustaining the fires of love over the long haul." This Saturday, Jan. 12, USAA will sponsor an event to help you do just that -- a free date night for military and their significant others. Head downtown to the Washington State History Museum for an evening you won't forget.

Northwest Military -- publishers of The Ranger and Airlifter newspapers -- and USAA, invite all military couples (18 and older) from the Puget Sound area, including the Guard and Reserves, to come out and enjoy themselves free of charge. To thank you for your service, the night will include many fun and exciting activities, as well as heavy appetizers and drinks (alcoholic drinks will be an additional charge). Win prizes while playing The Newlywed Game, or create an art project together at one of the many adult art stations. You can even get a glimpse of your romantic future together with one of the many psychics in attendance. Grab your partner and learn line dancing or just sit back and enjoy the music. There won't be a dull moment all evening.

Also, a dream board or vision board will be available at the Gateway Real Estate/Fairway Mortgage booth. A vision board is a collage of images, pictures and affirmations of one's dreams and desires, designed to serve as a source of inspiration and motivation, and to use the law of attraction to attain goals. Gateway Real Estate and Fairway Mortgage are co-sponsors of the evening.

The Washington State History Museum is located on Pacific Ave. within downtown Tacoma's Museum District, in close proximity to the Museum of Glass and the Tacoma Art Museum. Start the evening off right with a couple's selfie above the Chihuly Bridge of Glass adjacent to the Plaza. In addition to the many activities throughout the evening, visitors are also welcome to enjoy the museum and its many exhibits and stunning architecture. Explore The Great Hall of Washington History; a permanent exhibit showcasing the earliest history and ancient artifacts from Native American civilization and culture. Or gaze into the incredible glass artifacts and art pieces shown at Two Centuries of Glass -- on display until Feb. 10. The Washington State Historical Society was founded in 1891, and has since been dedicated to preserving, collecting and presenting Washington's rich history.

The evening begins at 6 p.m. and goes until 10 p.m., with a casual dress code and limited free parking. For additional information, and to RSVP, visit
