The Lakewood Panthers of the Women's Blue Chip Basketball League are reorganizing and preparing for their second season.
An open try-out is Saturday, Jan. 28 at Old Grey Middle School in Tacoma at 6 to 8 p.m.
The Panthers' General Manager David Williams, is also forming a new team, the Kent Vipers.
The WBCBL is a competitive semi-professional league for women 20 years old and older who do not have college eligibility.
"It's a showcase for overseas basketball," Williams said.
Last year the Panthers' roster was mainly made up of Army officers, but the team is open to civilians. Last year was their inaugural season and they were without a home court. This year all home games will be played at Kent-Meridian High School.
The season begins May 14 and the regular season is 15 games.
Rules in the WBCBL are different than women's college rules. In the semi-pro league the shot clock is 24 seconds, there are four 12-minute quarters, and players jump for jump balls rather than alternating inbound passes.
