Army looking for Soldiers who want to become cadets

If the opportunity to attend the United States Military Academy at West Point came knocking at your door, would you answer?

The Army is looking for Soldiers who embody the values of "Duty, Honor and Country" to be cadets at the oldest military leader development institution in the nation.

West Point representatives are scheduled to hold a seminar Oct. 27 at 10 a.m. at French Theater on Joint Base Lewis-McChord for enlisted Soldiers interested in attending USMA at West Point, N.Y. on banks of the Hudson River. Soldiers who meet the eligibility requirements and are selected will have the chance to earn commissions as officers and to earn bachelor's of science degrees from USMA.

To be eligible, Soldiers must be single, U.S. citizens between 17 and 23 years of age, eligible for reenlistment and must meet medical qualifications.

Soldiers must complete the West Point admissions application online by Feb. 28, 2012, to be considered for direct admission to the academy. There are 85 slots for active duty Soldiers and 85 more for those in the Guard and Reserve.
