Martini Club

The Varsity Grill’s third Thursday Martini Club will feature Hendrick’s Gin this month. Five bucks gets you access to an appetizer buffet, samples of the gin, prizes and $5 martinis from 5-7 p.m. Join the club at 1114 Broadway in downtown Tacoma.

Doyle’s battles MS

Keith Chafee Ellis, who has multiple sclerosis, has again taken up the charge of battling MS from his bike. Doyle’s Public House in Tacoma is assisting him with a raffle for cool stuff. Stop in the Stadium District bar and grab your $2 raffle ticket for a four-person, three-season tent and a vintage-looking Stella Artois popcorn machine. You do not need to be present to win those two items. Other prizes include Doyle's gift cards, Stella beer cooler and polo shirts, but you must be present to win that stuff. Doyle’s is at 208 Saint Helens Ave.

Coffee and bubbles

Cutters Point Coffee in downtown Tacoma now serves Bubble Tea in mango, honeydew and coconut flavors. Check it at 1936 Pacific Ave.

Big Night Out

The Melting Pot unveils its new Big Night Out menu Saturday, Sept. 19. The alpine-themed menu includes Alp and Dell Cheese Fondue, Alpine Ridge salad and new entrée choices such as apple wood smoked bratwurst, Hefeweizen marinated shrimp, roasted garlic crushed chicken, sauerbraten New York strip and smoked Swiss and sun-dried tomato ravioli. Prices range from $41 per person to $96 per couple. Dip in at 2121 Pacific Ave. in downtown Tacoma.

Alaska or bust

Duke’s Chowder House along Tacoma’s Ruston Way will pair Alaskan Brewing Company beers with Alaskan food Thursday, Oct. 1 at 6 p.m. Space is limited for the $49.95 event. Reserve your space at 206.985.9466.

Comfort food class

Bayview School of Cooking in Olympia will hold an Easy One Pot Meals class on stove top and slow pot comfort food dishes Thursday, Oct. 1 at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. The class is free. Check it out at 516 W. Fourth Ave. inside the Bayview Thriftway.
