Here We Go Magic

Luke Temple's unorthodox approach to electro-pop

Luke Temple has just released/engineered/produced an album under the moniker Here We Go Magic, a new project that far surpasses Temple's earlier indie folk rock efforts. After releasing "Snowbeast" in 2007, Temple caught the attention of Ben Gibbard and Sufjan Stevens, which perhaps inspired him to do something a little more offbeat; if this is the case, he certainly succeeded. Here We Go Magic is an incredibly unorthodox approach to electro-pop. Temple's beats can't decide if they're ‘70s African disco rhythms or bachelor chic dance jams from 1995. And the songs sit at an average of 4.5 minutes with little to no activity occupying the space. This isn't to say that Here We Go Magic's debut album is confused or boring. Just the opposite- the album is an exciting, fairly stony trip through ambient club dance music. Highly recommended.
