Physical music

FRIDAY, NOV. 28: Remember when you used to dress your dolls up and make them act out scenes from Footloose? There they were all lined up on the bed, and G.I. Joe with the kungfu grip was causing trouble and Barbie was fighting with Cabbage Patch while their passive-aggressive little stuffed animal children hid their eyes. Yep, you’ve always been strange. But the point of this is you’re still a fan of physical agility and humor. Seattle’s Lelavision — the troupe that combines Cirque de Soleil and Stomp, and then adds its own unique vision for a humorous, musical, theatrical and dance performance unlike any other — returns to the Museum of Glass. Catch their “Physical Music” with a Cabbage Patch in your pocket. Freak.

[Museum of Glass, 1 and 3 p.m., $4-$10, 1801 Dock St., Tacoma, 253.396.1768]

Holiday Trunk Sale

SATURDAY, NOV. 29: We love the holidays, but let’s face it: shopping at this time of year can suck. Snagging your nails in a catfight over a cashmere scarf, ruining your skin in the moisture-sucking mall air, and growing monster knots of tension just to cross each gift off your list makes for a stressful season. Enter Tempest Lounge, whose Holiday Trunk Show Saturday is a much-needed respite from the insanity. Local artists offer their creations for holiday gifts. Booze will be flowing so no kiddies.

[Tempest Lounge, Saturday, 2-4 p.m., 913 Martin Luther King Jr. Way, Tacoma, 253.272.4904]

Bahs and wows

SATURDAY, NOV. 29: The Broadway Center will present a story of manipulation, terror, torture and death, where a middle-aged businessman and taxpayer is harassed and brutalized by religious zealots who in total disregard of individual liberties,  use sleep deprivation, hallucinations, coercion and death threats to “convince” this man to see things their way. Yes, the 1970 classic holiday film starring Albert Finney, Scrooge: The Movie Musical, will screen twice Saturday to remind all of the importance of being kind to your fellow man. Sandwiched between the screenings, the Ghost of Christmas Present will hover as the lights on the Christmas tree outside the Pantages flick on. There will be much rejoicing over hot cocoa and cider, too.

[Pantages Theater, 3 and 6 p.m. film, 4:30 p.m. tree and drinks, $8 film, 901 Broadway, Tacoma, 253.591.5894]

Craft Night for Grownups

WEDNESDAY, DEC. 3: You know what Wednesday is? Wednesday is a day for making stuff. Making stuff, yeah.  Making stuff yourself isn’t exactly a new concept, certainly not in Tacoma where Tacoma Art Place on Hilltop Tacoma provides studio space so you can get down with your artistic bad self. Now Pierce County Library in association with genXgenY presents a Craft Night for Grownups.  The supplies are provided. You show up and make art. And crafts. Make something for crying out loud. It’s the holidays. As long as you are 18 and older. My Kind of night.

[Parkland/Spanaway Library, 6-9 p.m., free, 13718 Pacific Ave. S., 253.531.4656).
