Prancer

What would Christmas be without curmudgeons? Why, crabs and crusty old buzzards are as seasonal as mincemeat pie. There wouldn't be any holiday movies if some crank didn't try to steal Christmas — be he grinch, Scrooge, Mr. Potter or in the movie Prancer — Sam Elliott. Jessica, the daughter of an impoverished apple farmer Elliott, still believes in Santa Claus. So when she comes across a reindeer with an injured leg, it makes perfect sense to her to assume that it is Prancer, who had fallen from a Christmas display in town. Family fights and tears follow.

[The Grand Cinema, Nov. 28-30, 11 a.m., children 17 and under free, 606 S. Fawcett, Tacoma, 253.572.6062
