Serenity

Serenityspa owner Megan Douglas has been an active businesswoman in the South Puget Sound for more than five years with Serenity Massage practice in North Tacoma. For her newest business venture, which opened May 15, Douglas chose downtown Tacoma, in part for its creative vibe and unique atmosphere and for her love of old buildings. With past training in yoga instruction, hypnotherapy and nutrition in addition to massage therapy, Douglas will be able to provide an intensely individual experience at Serenityspa. Housed in the Roberson Building on Ledger Square in the Theatre District, Serenityspa heavily emphasizes overall wellness, holistic health and an organic approach to body and mind rejuvenation and relaxation. The traditional spa experience of waxing, facials, wraps, and scrubs are complemented greatly by expanded services that include life coaching sessions, guided meditation massage, emotional release massage, and custom essential oil and botanical extract aromatherapy. Minimally decorated and soothing treatment rooms offer a haven from daily stressors. One opens directly onto a sauna and six-jet Swiss shower room for easy, discrete post-body wrap and rub cleanup. A boutique style retail setup in the lobby offers unique gifts of handmade jewelry by local KJ Designs, Australian Uspa hair and skin care product line, and colorful yoga clothes in chakra hues. All treatment products sold and used are eco-friendly and biodegradable.

Douglas, a former Seattle resident, who says her ultimate dream has always been to open her own spa, proves that dreams do come true in Tacoma.
