Our lovely lady Dame Lola sank into the depths of a watery grave last year on St. Helens Avenue, but spring abounds with renewed life, and as the grand opening party on Saturday, March 22 will attest, “the lady, she is reborn,” in the Stadium District.

The event is invite-only and VIP spots are going fast for “Instinct,” owner Rebecca Dashow’s fun safari theme party with progressive house music spun by DJ Cool Josh, catered by The Vault with informal modeling of new clothing lines. Do whatever you can to wiggle your way onto the VIP list.

On reopening in a new neighborhood, Dashow is excited to be close to other shops and restaurants again.

“Stadium District is the gateway to downtown,” she explains. “It has a developed feel, is easily accessible for people to shop multiple places and pop in and out.”

Dashow’s sweet disposition is evident in her description of Dame Lola, calling it a “1930’s girlie-inspired boutique with a new, updated sleek and modern look but still with a girlie twist.” Dashow shares that Dame Lola will be getting a little green this time around and quickly calculates, “I think 25 percent of what I’ll carry will be either organic, locally made by Northwest designers, or made with recycled or sustainable resources because it’s important.”

The boutique will overflow with these and other designer spring and summer fashions and will have more on the way later in April. Namely delicious earth-hued and earth-friendly items from Seattle-based Prairie Underground and vintage fabrics turned into dreamy femme-fatale designs by San Francisco’s Deanna Bratt. Most of the T-shirts in the shop have been switched out for organic ones and some shoes have been as well.

When asked what sets the new shop apart from the past one, Dashow replies with a smile in her voice, “It’s a bigger, lighter, new space. One main advantage is the upstairs. It’s geared to private shopping and fittings. Ladies can use it for spa parties, as a private salon and for girlfriend gatherings.”

The space allows for special attention to be given to boutique guests away from the regular sales floor. Dame Lola will be open six days a week and welcomes calls for private shopping appointments for Mondays, any day or off-hours. Bottom line is Dame Lola has been recreated and is back, better than ever and here to outfit you. The shop will be open to the public Tuesday, March 25.
