Electronic music has gone through a major revival in 2007. Artists like Justice, MSTRKRFT, Digitalism, Boys Noize, and Crystal Castles have made electronic mainstream again with crossover hits and remixes. However, as new and fresh as these groups sound, they are almost all paying homage to Daft Punk. It’s fitting then, that Daft Punk closes out this great year for electronic music with their very own live album, Alive 2007.



The album starts off with a booming “ROBOT” vocal sample from “Robot Rock,” and with a huge buildup they’re off.  From “Robot Rock” they go on to mash-up hit after hit including, “Technologic,” “Around The World,” “Harder Better Faster Stronger,” “One More Time,” “Da Funk,” and “Human After All.”



It’s a great overall experience and best listened to as a full album start to finish, but there are some standout tracks.  I especially enjoyed “Television Rules The Nation / Crescendolls,” “Around The World / Harder Better Faster Stronger,” “Burnin’ / Too Long,” and the final track “Superheroes / Human After All / Rock ’n’ Roll.”



I got the chance to see these guys live last summer and it was easily the best concert of my life. For anyone who didn’t, however, get the album, a huge light system, and two robots. Turn it up and dance your ass off.
