Dwell addiction

What I spent my paycheck on this week

Dwell addiction

I popped into Dwell, lured by the notion of a sale. Not disappointed by the sale table, I snapped up candles, lotion, a small soap dish-like thing that I think I may find better suited as a paper clip home since its sweet avian motif is well suited to the files and magnets I also purchased at the home shop.

On my way to the door, my eyes rested on a table that had a petite size perfect for the living space where dog crates once served the side-table purpose.

Getting home with the sizing, I determined I desperately needed that table and rushed back to the shop.

But of course one can’t just make a single purchase, not with a shop as delicious as Dwell and especially given my recent propensity toward cleaning. I spied Caldrea cleaning items that filled my heart with lust. I snapped up the six-pack of dustless cleaning rags, as well as the fluffy puffy goat hair duster that looks cute but, much to my delight, works like a dream on items with weird edges, like antique shelf supports and a secretaire organizer found for free on Sixth Avenue.

Oh, happy shopping days!

Stylin’ for swell swells

The whole family — all three of us — are heading out for a trip to Maui. I’m so excited I can barely think straight, but when it comes time for shopping, I can get my wits together enough to start planning Aloha-style.

A recent trip to Sonja Clothing for Women — Happy eighth birthday! — helped me toward that sandy, tropical end with a breezy easy knit dress by Necessitees that will travel like a dream and take me to nice restaurants with ease.

Along with the dress, I found some sweet, perfect not quite flats, a couple of fabulously comfy and sweet, French style tank tops made in the U.S.A. — nice! And last but not least, the perfect tunic-y lightweight cotton shirt, a nice comfy piece that will work with shorts, capris or jeans, regardless of whatever the weather holds for us.

Naturally, I’m hoping for sun, sand and poolside lazing with a good book: but first, the hunt for the perfect swimsuit — cue “Jaws” theme song.
