Infinite Soups opens in Stadium District

No seating for you

The Weekly Volcano has noticed a rather unusual trend of late — everything seems to be getting smaller (except, of course, for us, but that’s another story). McMansions are downsizing into lofts; iPods go “mini” and “nano,” and if cell phones seem to be getting bigger, well, that’s only because you’re not thinking of them as tiny versions of laptop computers. So the time certainly is right for the teensy Infinite Soups, a new venture squeezed into the City Lights Billiards building at the corner of Sixth and Tacoma Avenue.

Fortunately, small in size can still equal big in taste. For only $7 a quart you can walk away — because there isn’t any seating — with one of 25 soups including my favorites so far — West African Peanut (hearty) and Curry Coconut (not sweet!). Cups and bowls are available too. — Jake de Paul

[Infinite Soups, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., 445 Tacoma Ave. S., Tacoma]
