ANNOUNCER: Always game for traditional comfort food when it includes breakfast items, Dutch and Jackie head out to the Proctor District in Tacoma. Manny's Place mirrors much of the menu items from Alfred's Café near the Tacoma Dome as both places share ownership.

DUTCH: I'm happy to have these menu items available outside of the parking and traffic nightmare that is often the issue near the Dome, and the Proctor District has a great neighborhood vibe. A full cocktail menu, along with beer and wine combined with an affordable happy hour menu, should make this a destination spot after a hard day's work. If an ice-cold beer alongside a plate of $7 street tacos, sliders, or calamari doesn't make you salivate, then grab your favorite summer cocktail and add a $5 wedge salad or Salmon Ceviche for just $10.

JACKIE: Breakfast and lunch items, all day, every day. This is something I can get behind. And while the menu errs on the side of traditional favorites, they aren't afraid to zhoosh it up with some personal touches that make it stand apart from the rest. Take the French Toast for instance. Thick slices of Texas Toast are dredged in Manny's concoction then finished with granola and the chef's special syrup. The granola gives each bite a nice bit of texture while the syrup is a silky, sweet caramel-y sauce that leaves you using each bite to sop up every last drop. Served with eggs your way and bacon or sausage, this is a standard breakfast go-to whenever the hankering hits you.

DUTCH: When it comes to breakfast, Jackie and I are always fans, but here, at least for me, it is all about the blueberry pancakes. The sweet cream recipe is a lighter, sweeter version than what most places offer. For just $10, diners get two plate-sized cakes with a side of maple syrup, and though less heavy than most, the serving size is more than enough to satisfy any hunger.

JACKIE: After all that delicious breakfast, I hit Manny's for something a bit lighter in the Cobb Salad. Loaded with grilled chicken on a bed of romaine with tomatoes, olives, avocado, bacon, blue cheese crumbles with blue cheese dressing for good measure, this salad makes me feel good to get my greens in but plenty satisfied.

DUTCH: I don't mess around with "light" if I don't have to, and at Manny's, I didn't see the need with so many other items that beckoned to me. Items such as the Reuben Sandwich, which is piled with pastrami and topped with plenty of Swiss cheese and sauerkraut with Thousand Island dressing. Another favorite of mine is the Manny's Burger that is a near cousin to the Reuben. A traditional beef burger is replaced with a ground pastrami patty that is partnered with bacon and pepper jack cheese, and finally topped with lettuce, tomato, and Thousand Island dressing as a finishing touch.
