SAY HI TO NUCKY

What better way to celebrate the 80th anniversary of Repeal Prohibition Day than handcrafted cocktails, burlesque dancers and a quartet! At 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5 Olympia Film Society will party old school style at the Capital Theater (206 Fifth Ave. SE, Olympia). Sip classic cocktails and take in TUSH Burlesque and The Greta Jane Quartet. Come in your finest period duds, and celebrate our freedom to imbibe in style. The cost is $10-$15, which includes one handcrafted cocktail.

SANTA LOVES MOUSSE

No need to visit the North Pole to spy on Santa, he's visiting Paprika Cafe and Catering (301 Fourth Ave., Olympia) Saturday, Dec. 7. Chocolate mousse, peppermint crumble crepes and peppermint hot cocoa will be added to the regular menu in honor of jolly ole Saint Nick. Aside from the delicious menu additions, there will be photo opps with the man in red 1 to 3 p.m.

CHRISTMAS TEA

Meeker Mansion (312 Spring St., Puyallup) celebrates local lore and tradition with regular tea times in Puyallup. At 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8, the Mansion will host a special Christmas tea. For $12, attendees may tour the Mansion adorned in its holiday best with vintage decorations and trees in each room - all while sipping on Victorian tea. Call for reservations at 253.848.1770.

HEALTHY HOLIDAY COOKING

While our waistlines expand with each holiday, The Strong Center (2256 Mottman Road SW, Olympia) is looking to battle the bulge with a Healthy Holiday Cooking class at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11. Dietitian Paige Evans will present recipes that highlight mouth-watering meals while discussing nutrition, food preparation and meal planning. Bring healthy tips and ideas to the holiday dinner table this season. The cost is $10.
