The Review

Ed., Note, since this review the Olive Branch Cafe moved to downtown Tacoma.

Olive Branch Café owner Terry Waller worked in forensics at Western State Hospital for 26 years. Seeking something more fulfilling, Waller volunteered at Java Fusion. There she learned product ordering, cooking, and the art of making teas and coffees – skills that equipped her to open her own business inside the thrift store Hidden Treasures.

Waller serves up abundant smiles with her simple inexpensive sandwiches, large salads, Market Spice teas, Delano coffee, espresso and homemade soups ($3-$7.95). Waller also says freshly made pastries and desserts will be offered soon.

"I've had people come back two and three times already for my Reuben, and chicken pesto sandwiches," says Waller after being open less than a month.

Reaching out to the younger crowd, Waller has seen a good response to her offer to mentor teens and young adults who have a curiosity or passion for baking.

Out front, the café is mellow, warm and welcoming - with a vibe that's part European parlor and part Granny's sitting room.

The steamed milk hot chocolate has a secret ingredient that gives it a rich, delicious creaminess. It is not to be missed.

Terry and her friends will make you feel very important. They go the extra mile for their customers. The atmosphere was fantastic. They made me one of the best Lattes I have ever had. The thrift store was fun too and added that extra touch. I would highly reccomend visiting and finding out for yourself. I know that when I visit my family again I will certanly stop in again.

I had been in hidden treasures in the past but as i was drivinb by i saw two ladies in the window, at a table. I said to my mom lets check it out!. my mom had the chicken pesto said lots of chicken and was very good. I had the reuben it was finger licking good. we had the half sandwich with soup. I must say i do not believe the soup is homemade as the carrot in my chicken soup was chewy, but still was good. I intend to have sanwich and salad for my next visit. I also love the fact they have antiques in view lots to look at and decent prices both food and mechandise. Oh and the walnut orange cupcakes were sinful......
