With the hustle and bustle of military life, sometimes you need to get away for some couple time. The Cameo Heights Mansion, set amidst a 400-acre orchard and vineyard, is the perfect getaway. Sitting on a bluff overlooking the Walla Walla River, this charming bed and breakfast is conveniently located between the Tri-Cities and Walla Walla in the heart of Washington Wine Country.

Owners Alan and Deanne Fielding are a lovely couple who have a knack for providing a romantic getaway. As parents of seven children, they know a bit about needing some couple time. The two go above and beyond the typical bed and breakfast to make sure you have an unforgettable experience. From the homemade toiletries with a nice gift box to take home with you to great romance suggestions like a hidden surprise in your suite to find with your partner, or CAMEO, a take on BINGO where you complete romantic activities like a sunset walk to earn a prize.

Each suite has an international theme and is a luxurious retreat with great views and spa-like bathrooms with jetted tubs. There is a mini-spa on site, a theater (Insider Tip: Each suite has tokens you can use in the refreshment area for snacks while watching a movie). There is plenty to keep you busy at the mansion, and if you wish to venture out, the Fieldings are a wealth of local information.

Your reservation includes a coffee and Danish wakeup service and a gourmet breakfast in the restaurant. Plan to splurge for at least one dinner at The Vine, the award-winning restaurant at the Mansion. Each night, Chef Nathan Carlson prepares a seven-course prix fixe fine-dining meal. He uses fresh, local ingredients including from the Mansion's own garden. Since you are in the heart of Washington Wine Country, you must spring for the local wine pairing, that Carlson has carefully selected to enhance each course. This is truly a dining experience you won't forget, and the best part, no driving.

If you want to venture further afield, consider a wine country tour in the Mansion's vintage Lincoln Stretch Limousine. The Fieldings have years of experience knowing which wineries are the most loved by visitors. Let them design a custom tour for you of the Walla Walla and Columbia Valley Wineries. The town of Touchet is located close by with a few wineries worth a visit. My favorite is the Waterbrook Winery with its stunning tasting room overlooking a pond and fountains. The winery has more than eighty 90-plus wine scores and 100 Best Buy wines under its belt. Plan to have lunch when you visit and enjoy Chef Karla Wilsey's farm-to-table cuisine with Waterbrook's great wines.

Downtown Walla Walls has a Norman Rockwell vibe to it with tree-lined streets and cute local shops and cafés. Find a spot to park and just walk to explore the town and enjoy the public art and parks. Although most people think of wine and grapevines, Walla Walla is also famous for Walla Walla Sweet Onions and is a beautiful agricultural area that is perfect for a scenic country drive. Also worth a visit is the Airport District. This hip, funky area is on an old military base, and the World War II-era buildings are now the site of numerous craft beverage makers including beer, wine, bourbon and other spirits.
