Local rescue celebrates success

By Jason de Paul on July 18, 2018

Animal Aid & Rescue Foundation (AARF) reached a major milestone this year, 500 spays and neuters to help solve canine overpopulation in Louisiana.  AARF is a local Pacific Northwest non-profit that provides an "Angel Fund" to assist owners who are unable to keep up with their pets' medical expenses. For 6 years AARF has been relocating dogs from kill shelters in Louisiana, and re-homing them in WA, where they can live full, tail-wagging lives. However, AARF realized 2 years ago relocation alone does not solve the overpopulation problem.

For every dog re-homed, another would enter the kill shelter, so AARF took action beginning a "Spay and Neuter Boot Scooter" program in Louisiana, which provides low cost spay and neuter services to pet owners, helping to stifle overpopulation. Working with local Louisiana vets, and a great partner rescue, they have been able to successfully spay and neuter over 500 owned dogs.

AARF will celebrate this monumental achievement Thursday, August 2nd, at Steel Creek American Whiskey Company in Tacoma. Stop by between 6 and 9 PM support this local rescue, and enjoy line dance lessons and bull riding for a suggested donation of $10. Food and beverage are also available for purchase. Steel Creek American Whiskey Company is located at 1114 Broadway Tacoma, WA 98402. For more information about Animal Aid & Rescue Foundation, visit MyAARF.org.
