Get your golf clap and your uniform ready; the annual Boeing Classic returns to North Bend, Aug. 21-27, at the beautiful Club at Snoqualmie Ridge.

In conjunction with the PGA TOUR Champions tournament, family-friendly events for servicemembers (retired, active and Reserve) and their family will be held on Military Appreciation Day, Sunday, Aug. 27.

The tournament features legendary golfers (ages 50 and older) including defending champion Bernhard Langer, Mark O'Meara, Tom Kite and Corey Pavin. Meanwhile, military members and their families can get an up-close view of the pros on each hole, free of charge. (No advance tickets required.)

Additional amenities include free food and drinks, provided in partnership with the USO, the ability to volunteer as event staff, and once-in-a-lifetime interactions with pro golfers.

The Boeing Classic also serves as an annual charity event, raising funds for local Seattle organizations, including the Benaroya Research Institute of Virginia Mason Medical Center for heart research; to-date, they've raise more than $6 million.

Last year's showing brought on 87,000 spectators and around 1,000 volunteers, including military personnel.

Military Appreciation Day Perks:

  • Get in free with your military ID, including active, retired and Reserve members and their dependents. Admission provided in part by Birdies for the Brave.
  • Bring and show military ID at the front gate ticket booth for admission. No advanced scheduling or tickets necessary for entrance.
  • Parking in the Boeing Classic Spectator Lot is free with your military ID.
  • Free food and drink provided for military families from The Patriots Outpost, hosted by the USO. Refreshments will be located at the top of the 18th green.
  • Military personnel members will make First Tee player announcements.
  • For added appreciation, the American flag will be displayed as the pin flag on the course's 18th green.

Show up to show your American pride as a servicemember and to help celebrate this annual fundraising event. Or get involved and play a more active role.

Servicemembers can also sign up to help with the event as a caddie or pin attendant -- pulling and placing the flag on the tournament's final green of the day.

During the tournament's pro-am event, Thursday, Aug. 24, active-duty members can volunteer to caddie for players. Each member will get on-course interaction, and the experience to caddie for one hole.

Members can also help at the start of each hole as a tee-off attendant. Or they can sign up to tend to the American flag as it flies on the 18th green, with the scheduling help of Birdies for the Brave. During all servicemember opportunities, active-duty volunteers will be in digital camo uniform and have the opportunity to meet and talk with professional golfers.

Anyone who is interested in helping as a caddie, tee or pin flag attendant, contact Samantha Gotkin at 206.412.9810 or samantha@segfundraising.com.
