The Office of The Judge Advocate General is now accepting applications for the Army's Funded Legal Education Program. Under this program, up to 25 active duty commissioned officers and NCOs attend civilian law school at government expense and subsequently serve as Army Judge Advocates. Selected officers and NCOs will attend law school beginning in fall 2022 and will remain on active duty while attending law school. We are seeking exceptional leaders with the confidence, humility, and character needed to provide principled counsel and premier legal support to the best clients in the world.

Interested officers and NCOs should review Army MILPER Message 21-096 and Chapter 10, AR 27-1 (The Judge Advocate General's Funded Legal Education Program (revisions pending)) to determine their eligibility. This program is open to Regular Army captains, lieutenants, sergeants first class, staff sergeants, and sergeants from the Operations Division (OD), Operations Support Division (OSD), Force Sustainment Division (FSD), Health Services Division (HSD), Army Special Operations Force (ARSOF), and Cyber (CB). Commissioned officer applicants must have at least two, but not more than six, years of total active Federal service at the time legal training begins. NCO applicants must have at least four, but not more than eight, years of total active federal service at the time legal training begins. Eligibility is governed by statute (10 U.S.C. § 2004). Waivers are not possible.

Interested officers and NCOs should immediately register for the earliest offering of the Law School Admission Test (LSAT). See https://www.lsac.org/lsat for full details on LSAT dates and registration deadlines. The application window for the FLEP opened Aug. 1,  2021 and closes Nov. 1,  2021. Applicants will apply at https://www.jagcnet.army.mil/applynow. Contact your local I Corps FLEP Liaison, CPT Hasenfus, at stephanie.n.hasenfus.mil@mail.mil for more information.
